The Division of Internal Medicine oversees the management and academic activities of all medical departments, including all medical subspecialties at the Sheba Medical Center. We are a middle-sized hospital and offer both inpatient and outpatient services.
The professional staff of the Division of Internal Medicine includes over 250 physicians, most with academic affiliation, over 70 interns and 550 nurses. Further assistance comes from social workers, dieticians, psychologists, technicians, bio-technologist, physicists and research lab workers.
Our inpatient facilities include 13 departments with 330 beds. We service over 27,000 patients yearly. Our inpatient operations include:
- Six internal medicine departments, with intensive care facilities
- Cardiology Institute
- Hematology Institute
- Oncology
- Neurology, with a CVA Unit
- Dermatology
- Emergency medicine ward
In addition to our 72 day beds, our outpatient facilities service 345,000 visits annually and provide diagnosis and treatment in the following fields:
- Cardiology
- Preventive and Rehabilitation Cardiology
- Oncology
- Hematology, including the National Center for Hemophilia
- Nephrology
- Lipids
- Neurology
- Gastroenterology
- Pulmonology
- Endocrinology
- Infectious diseases
- Dermatology
All six internal medicine departments and many of the institutes are affiliated with the Sackler School of Medicine at Tel Aviv University. Many of the senior physicians have academic degrees in addition to medical degrees.
